Developing artists' studios in a listed building: ACAVA's Valentines Mansion, NFASP case study, 2009

Resource Details:

Valentines Mansion is a partnership between ACAVA studio providers and Redbridge Council to create a mixed-use cultural facility combining heritage and studio spaces.
A disused listed building in Essex has been transformed into a mixed-use cultural facility with studio spaces thanks to Redbridge Council and ACAVA.
Working closely with ACAVA (the Association for Cultural Advancement through Visual Arts), the London Borough of Redbridge has created six studios for long-term lease to local artists, along with a kitchen and communal area.

The Valentines Mansion development also provides excellent marketing opportunities for the artists, with a small exhibition space and a shop where they can sell their work, and regular open studio events.
